Because have I ever told you how much I absolutely hate non-rounded corners in my web content? For some reason it just doesn’t appeal to me.

Additionally, I’d make the words “Absolutely hate” in bright pink to make it even more annoying, but alas. You can’t always get what you want. Anyhow, I’ve been contemplating moving away from WP to my own domain… possibly. It’s very hard to make these choices, as you could understand. I’ve been somewhat playing around with web layouts over the last few days and I do kind of want to move away from the wordpress limitations and have my own domain done.

Maybe Flickr Premium and my own webspace / domain name. That might work.

Ah well, we’ll see how things pan out.

Anyway, still working on a few writeups. SMASH 2009 for one (photos can be found on my Flickr).

I’ve still yet to get back to writing reviews for FMA which I might just summarise, and there’s a whole bunch of other stuff I’ve been neglecting, for which I apologize. As I am very busy. (read: lazy)

Anyhow, should have something up in the next day or two. Something proper, anyway.

In my photo stint at Skyfire 2009, I came upon 2 things.

The first, was the fireworks technician with his pants half down on the platform.

The seccond, was the fireworks in the shape of a penis.

Oh, the maturity.

Oh, the maturity.

Well played.

Unlimited Room Works

Or something to that extent. Sorry guys for the lack of blog. Been filling out loads of selection criteria lately. (Job hunting, hah.) Anyhow, I’m still really tired from the cleanup that resulted in this desk..shot. As a note though, my PS3 isn’t in my room at the moment. 😦 Oh well. Crackdown is loads of fun on the xBox though, and so was Gears of war along with Fires of Liberation. Now all I need in my room is abit more shelving, and some monitor stands… These bloody feet take up too much space.

You can see the void where my PS3 is ;_;

You can see the void where my PS3 is ;_;

That aside, I’d best get back to work. Anyhow, coming up soon: some music reviews. Or anime reviews. Or whatever I damn well photograph next.

Hurrah, another suprise from HLJ that I forgot I preordered ages ago…Anyhow, after somehow getting to the post office and picking this piece of awesome up, time to crack out ye olde’ DSLR and take some snaps!

Anyhow, for those interested – taken at F11 with a Nikon D60, 1/50 shutter speed, with a 55-200mm lens.

Thanks again, HLJ and Alter!

Angle!

Angle!

As before with all the Alter figures I’ve bought, this one is no exception – fantastically well done, very well styled. That little line on the jacket bugs me a little… anyone else with this figure have the same thing?

But anyway, now I have something to go with Vita and Hayate 🙂

Some of the shots are a little over/underexposed just a tad, or the colour balance is out – my apologies. Additionally, this is after I just cleaned the CCD of my camera too… (so nerve-wracking).

Yes... she has panties. >_>

You can really see the detail put into her erm.. shirt. Oh, and Cross Mirage looks fantastic too 🙂

Another angle again. She has a short skirt... xD

Last shot! Fire!

Last shot! Fire!

Anyhow, I hope you guys like her! She’s still around at HLJ I believe. As well as that, any C&C on the photographs is much appreciated. 🙂

Thanks for reading – Reijin out.

Yoko Ritona

Yoko Ritona

I’ll put this one in the money “accidentally” well spent basket. Anyhow, I’ll just be leaving this here. Thanks again, HLJ! She’s very pretty. Now all I need to do is work on my camera overexposure. Or stop using the flash, or get a more complicated flash that I can soften…

Anyhow, Reijin out.

Not too sure why I like photography so much, so we might just call this entry a personal rant.

I enjoy photography – For those who know me, they’d probably know I had a closet love for it since the age of 12. (a little younger than my love for computers, but eh. Differences.) It’s a fun subject. The ability to capture a piece of life in suspended animation, to freeze an aspect of time, so to speak. I was originally interested in them because of the way they work – Light enters the photo frame, a shutter opens and those particles of light hit a film and bang, a picture – fast forward to nowadays, and we see alot more complex equipment, and more to learn, and be interested in. Digital cameras and SLR’s, Lens, the use of different flash and sensitivity levels to change colour tones..

Have I bored you yet? 🙂

One of my first shots with a Nikon D60

One of my first shots with a Nikon D60

To me, photography is amazing because  in the 50fps that our eyes see, you miss detail. When you freeze a shot, and take a good half minute to analyze it, you see a different perspective entirely. A whole new world, so to so speak. (Or, if you’ve watched Aladdin recently.) It’s a different way to look at things. I suppose you could also say I like it because it’s a hobby that takes stupidly large amounts of currency… eh, apples and oranges.

A bargain at $700 AUD - Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 G

A bargain at $700 AUD - Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 G

The amazing things you can do with a camera, once you have the knowledge is quite cool as well. Lowering the focal range by opening the aperture, capturing a empty street when it’s actually quite busy, getting a shot of the moon when all you see is a large white dot.. and plenty more. Light drawing is one of the more fun things I’ve done with my camera.

For those interested, my photo equipment:

  • Nikon D60
  • AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 3.5-5.6G
  • AF Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4D
  • AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 4-5.6G
  • AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm 3.5-5.6G
  • Hoya HMC Uv filter
  • Hoya circular polarity filter

All up, an investment of around $2000, plus camera bags etc. It would have cost more brand new for the 50mm and 18-200mm lens, too. I use them all fairly often, and it is fun to see what you can do with different lens’ – The 18-55 is great for low-light. 🙂

)

Figurine photography is something I enjoy 🙂

Portrait photography is something I like. I also enjoy night and street photos. Portriat for figurines, mainly though. Another fun aspect of it would be what you can do with a camera. Don’t like a certain shot? Lie down and do it from ground level! There’s so many genres that you can take with a camera, so many different variations of it’s use – so you’ve really got a hobby within a hobby, when you look at things deeper.

)

Slightly blurry, but it still made a good shot. Doesn't have to be perfect.

Once you get deeper into the field, you can also make a huge amount of money with photography too. So for those getting into it, or trying to turn it into a profession – keep going! You’re in for one fun ass job (unlike me and my IT work), and definitely a hell of a career. Shoot what you feel like shooting, express yourself. If you look at a photo like an artstyle, keep it that way.

A spur of the moment shot - I think he was trying to avoid the cake..

A spur of the moment shot - I think he was trying to avoid the cake..

What I find even cooler is that everyone ‘reads’ a photo differently. It’s kinda cool to see how people differ to your perspective, from just a still image. Lets you look back and remember how fun a certain event was.

Focus!

Focus!

If you’re getting into photography, like me – keep at it. It’s amazing fun, and you learn an incredible amount. If you get good at it, I hear you can make money! Anyhow, that’s all from me today – I’d better get out of here and take more pictures… and clean the room ;_;
