So, first episode! I have clearly no idea what it’s about either!
(Just wikipedia it you lazy sods)
So I enjoyed the first episode, so that’s surely a good indicator thus far. It does seem very light though, with a interesting storyline. What I did like most though, and what struck me first was the character design – It’s very pretty, just to start it off.
It’s also quite different – Unique, in fact. It’s interestingly styled, and definitely stands out compared to alot of other characters. It does stand out somewhat similarly to ARIA, for those that have seen it.
The characters (so far) have very differing attitudes and distinct styles to the way they act, behave, etc. The seiyuu’s fit the characters very well, too. Although to add some criticism, the siblings are abit generic – It’s the only thing I can pick out without re-watching though.
There’s quite abit of ARIA-esque styling in it, however. I’d say if you liked ARIA, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this series. Same goes for if you like a story with interesting characters, and a story that doesn’t move too quickly. It’s abit difficult to tell right now how fast this will move though, but so far it’s at a very steady pace.
It does get abit dark and ominous towards the end of the first episode, and does add an element of mystery/fantasy to it other than “people who live in water”, however – we’ll see how it pans out. It’s definitely one of those things that you’ll want to watch 2 episodes of at least before making a decision.
The background art and music is also nothing short of awesome. Many more points for the art, but the music certainly fits quite well and deserves merit. (Although in some scenes it’s a tad… strange.)
So far the character progression is filling out quite nicely, we’re seeing abit of each’s character traits (of the characters that have been introduced thus far), but we’ll see how far it goes for the next few episodes or so.
All in all, I’d definitely recommend this series to people this season. It’s interesting, it’s pretty, it has a motivating enough storyline to keep people wanting to watch it – and the characters are very likeable.
Anyhow, That’s one down – more to come this week!
So, this season is shaping up to be pretty quiet. However, the good stuff to watch?
So far most of these have caught my attention pretty well.
The main one’s I’m looking at at the moment however, would be Canaan, Spice and Wolf 2, Aoi Sora and Tokyo Magnitude.
The first episode of Aoi Sora is already out on Tokyo Toshokan – So grab it there.
I must say the previews look pretty damn good so far, so we should have a decent flowing anime season after all. That said though, I really do need to find more time to play games and watch anime, along with playing my Bass more…. not to mention learning Japanese and the variety of other things. The would would be much better if days were 3 hours longer.
Having said all that, it’s good to be blogging again! It’s a nice relaxing outlet for me, something where I can erm, make my presence known? I dunno. All in All, enjoyable.
At the moment I’m downloading Umi Monogatari, I’ve already watched Aoi Sora (Should have a review up tomorrow), and hopefully in addition to that I should be catching up on all the FMA/Valkyria reviews that I’ve deprived you guys of (Gomen ;_;) So, this week should be busy! Stay tuned.
Forgot to mention this in the last post… 😛
This soundtrack is orsm, btw. 😛
Just practicing the devine art of procrastinating in the face of homework.
In reality, this:
I really do love the internet at times.
Morale of the story: Hans the pig is awesome. Additionally, droppings are the things to hold in dangerous times.
The episode wasn’t exactly to the game story, buuuuuuuuuuuut whatever. It was ok… although abit too comical (which it really shouldn’t be). Ah well.
The most unfortunate thing is they’re already hinting at Alicia’s past, etc etc. Far too early to be doing that as is. Silly anime adaptation. On the other hand, there’s plenty of action in this episode on top, so that kinda counteracts the fail of that.
There’s a little more of Welkin’s goofyness, too – so, it’s well balanced out. Either way, the next few episodes better get good.
Anyhow, Reijin out.
