OH GOD NINA ;_;

I remember this guy from first season! He looks cooler now though :P

I remember this guy from first season! He looks cooler now though 😛

So, another week, another episode. Thanks again to Eclipse fansubs for another great release. 🙂
Anyhow – this episode made me cry. That is all. Nina = so sad ;______________;

Overall in the episode there’s not much in the means of action apart from the opening scenes with Scar, even then you don’t see much.
You get a fair amount of Ed’s nature, both in how much of a genius he is, and his reasoning behind trying to bring his mum back to life – he gets pretty pissed. Him arguing with Tucker had to be one of the most heartfelt things I’ve seen in anime for a while.

:( nobody saw it coming the first time

😦 nobody saw it coming the first time

This seriously had an impact on me ;_;

This seriously had an impact on me ;_;

I really have to give praise to the Voicing this episode – really really convincing, also full of emotion too. The animation maintains the goodness that came to us this season in general, and IMO the episode is pretty well done comparatively to the manga and first series’.

Just… WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL NINA OFF ;_;
Anyways, anyone who hasn’t started watching this yet, you bloody well should – it’s definitely something for most ages and genre-lovers, no matter what you’re into. Oh and it’s one of them things you’d call a classic, too.

Here’s to waiting for this weekends’ release.

Valkyria Chronicles – Ep 3 April 29, 2009

Finally getting around to doing a writeup, first of all – why is Alicia now tsundere? Really. Why?
I’ll just add that one to questions that I’ll ask when I die, too. She wasn’t anything like tsundere in the game, nor was she stupid. But somehow she’s become the *generic stupid bitch*?

Annoying, check.

Annoying, check.

Either way, hopefully next episode is better.

Dynamic Duo, yes?

Dynamic Duo, yes?

What they did do well this ep, however is when Isara gets confronted for being a Darcsen, which was toned down a little, but still marvellously well done. The battle scene was pretty quick, but still pretty damn good.

Fighty bits

Fighty bits

Sadly enough, IMO there wasn’t enough character progression – unless you call Alicia being tsundere and stupid shown alot more than it should’ve been that, anyway. We only really see abit of Largo, Rose, and a few interactions between Welkin and Isara.
Otherwise, not much in the way. Hell, I’d almost consider this a fanservice episode.

There was abit more backstory for Welkin showed, which was decent, and fairly solid – but otherwise, sadly there’s not enough

Just like the game!

Just like the game!

As usual, however – much praise for the artwork, and keeping it similar to the game style. At least they can do some things right… Oh well, back to waiting for next episode 😦

Reijin out.

Three words can summarize this episode:

Moe, moe, kyun~

No seriously.

No seriously.

Look above at reactions to this. Srs.

Look above at reactions to this. Srs.

Ok, so apart from the episode being mostly fanservice, it was decent. Although having said that… I find it odd that Yui already has some stupid levels of guitar talent without showing how. That sort of progression kinda does bother me.

Anyhow, the general morale here is that Mio is the moe one with a generous helping of CHEST, Ritsu is still incredibly hyperactive, and Yui…
Yeah, I dunno what to say about Yui. She’s just too silly IMO. Almost as if they’ve taken the term Airhead and decided to make that air a concentrate of Helium…

Anyhow. I also find Tsumugi to be incredibly scary at times. She knows how to manipulate people, and has resources. THE PERFECT MAFIA BOSS.
Still currently a toss-up between Mio and Mugi for favourite character of this one so far. They’re all likeable, but you gotta have favourites right?

F-F-F-FANSERVICE

F-F-F-FANSERVICE

I’d still say I’m going to stick with this series. It’s funny, easy to watch, requires little to no concentration to keep up with character progeression, and gives me great ideas of stuff to do when I get incredibly bored. (Honest, I’ve started playing my bass more since I picked up the tab for the OP theme – I kinda need to get back to my keyboard practice though)

I do like all the quirks each character has though, airhead, hyperactive, scared of everything… what the hell.. So on and so fourth. Either way, it’s this kind of show I love watching. (See also: ARIA the Animation) It’s simple and easy, also gives you abit of an escape from life. I do wish I wouldn’t get any older than I am now at times though – oh well, good times.

see below anyway.

Scary.

Scary.

Anyhow, heres to waiting for the next episode then.

Reijin out.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – After the third [Initial impressions] April 22, 2009

Hello all!

After returning from a nice long LAN, I got around to watching FMA Brotherhood, which I’m pretty happy to say is awesome (Needless to say, my thanks to Eclipse Productions for some quality releases.) . So far, it seems to have kept multiple others at attention, too.

And they're back!

And they're back!

Anyhow, if you haven’t watched it by now, you bloody well should start. That aside, it’s pretty good so far, with little to complain about.

For those who need some backstory, in short:

Edward and Alphonse Elric are two alchemist brothers who search for the legendary Philosopher’s Stone, a powerful object which would allow them to recover their bodies (which were lost in an attempt to bring their mother back to life through alchemy) – Wikipedia

I must say, over the 2003 series, definitely pick this up. Even if you’ve read the manga and done everything – it’s definitely worth watching, and if it’s your thing, following. (Hell, follow it even if it isn’t.) The storyline is good, there’s a HUGE amount of growth in characters (sorry, Ed…) – it’s pretty much everything you’d expect from a full-sized novel.

Some action?

Some action?

The animation is amazing, so far. Before this came along, I went and rewatched some episodes just as a comparison, and well – It’s hardly a comparison. This seriously will beat FMA 1’s styling into the ground. I suppose though, thats what 6 years will do.
Fight scenes in particular are much more smoothly animated, and the villains look much more… villainistic? Hard to describe, but they do look much more vile and angry. Lust and Gluttony look even better this time around, too. And Gluttony is still as bone-chilling… *shivers*

Eeeeeeviiillllll....

Eeeeeeviiillllll....

As for the Voice Actors, they’re on-par with the original. The only one I have a qualm with is Mustang. Somehow he’s not as… assertive as the original voice from the first series. The rest, (especially Rose from ep 3) are convincing in their roles, and fit into the previous boots quite nicely. Edward especially – still having his vertically challenging moments…:)

Something I do especially like that they’ve done is kept the good old short jokes in – somehow I don’t quite think it’d be FMA without it. (Would it?)

"CALLIN ME SHORT EH?"

"CALLIN ME SHORT EH?"

Overall, I’m quite liking it. It’s on the “list to be watched the day it’s released”, which is generally quite small for me – so a fair effort. It’s definitely enjoyable for all, however. You don’t need to be a fanatic or have watched the previous seasons, nor have read the manga – Brotherhood shows excellent overall story progression, along with a solid portrayal of each character and their strengths, weaknesses and quirks. It’s definitely something very solidly made, and I’m fairly sure many others would agree.

Somehow this is me with new computer hardware..

Somehow this is me with new computer hardware.. Minus the intent to harm.

Really nice background art, too.

Anyhow, back to fixing my music folders up – thanks for reading.
